New Perie Publican at The Leinster Arms
New is the outstanding General Manager (Landlady to you and me!) of my local pub here in Bayswater London, The #LeinsterArms. A friendly face in one of the friendliest of public houses.
Pubs, and the hospitality sector overall, face some of the biggest challenges since re-opening their doors to customers. Social distancing regulations are pretty much the antithesis to recognised pub ambience.
New and her young Team have worked tirelessly making “The Lenny”, as the pub is affectionately known by Locals, Covid-Safe whilst maintaining that friendly, welcoming atmosphere so loved by the regulars. It’s not an easy balancing act but New has made it work.
New lives above the pub with her partner Steph, a Lawer with a leading Insurance Company, and Brian their pugnacious little Puggle dog.
Many regulars count New as a friend, not just a Landlady. We have in the past enjoyed drinks together at our house, and other friend’s houses in the Bayswater neighbourhood. She & Steph are part of the social fabric here.
A pint of your best please…
We have a mutual friend, Bob, who lives in the mews running alongside the Lenny. As lockdown rules relaxed and people ventured out to shops and pubs, Bob was forced to continue self isolation. Because she cares New would deliver a pint of Bob’s favourite Ale in a sanitised gloved hand to his porch, ring the doorbell and retreat to a safe distance. Happy Days. True community spirit.
